It is a policy to comply with our Health & Safety Policy, which complies with the requirements of the Health and Safety at work Act of 1974 (as amended). As a provider of education and as an employer, TCB is committed to equality of opportunity and diversification. We have also developed a Code of Ethics which all are staff are required to comply with.

| HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY- A SYNOPSIS |

It is the policy of TCB to comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and safety regulations; we accept our responsibilities regarding safety for students and visitors. It is important for students to realize their responsibilities to TCB, to staff and to each other, for safety matters. |

The purpose of health and safety law and good practice is to eliminate or control risks in the workplace and work/study activities. Wherever possible, risks will be eliminated by selection and design of facilities, equipment and processes. |

Safety |

The building is well maintained and every effort is made to ensure the college is free of any potential health and safety issues. Students can help by acting responsibly and maturely in and around the college. It is very important to be vigilant and report any potential health and safety issue immediately to your tutor or reception staff. All work/study areas should be kept as clear as possible, and passageways, corridors and stairs must be kept free of obstructions that might lead to slipping or tripping accidents. In particular, fire escape routes and fire exits must be kept clear and free of combustible materials. Try to avoid spilling any liquids, especially on polished floors, if you do spill something - clear it up immediately. Don't run in corridors or stairways. |

There is a NO SMOKING policy within our premises. Smoking is only permissible outside the building. Please use the bins provided. |

Computer safety Problems |
| |
Associated with long periods of computer use are on the increase, and can result in long-term or even permanent injury.

Children on our premises |
| |
Most areas of our premises may be unsuitable for children to access safely. Therefore, students and staff are not permitted to bring children under the age of 16 onto the college premises. |

Aggressive behaviour |
| |
It is our policy to protect our staff and students from all forms of violence. so far as is reasonable. Violent and aggressive behaviour is unacceptable, whatever form it takes and whatever reasons are cited for it. TCB will not tolerate the use of harassment, verbal abuse, bullying, threats, or physical assault against members of staff, students or visitors. |

The name and location of First Aid staff can be found in your College diary and are displayed on signs in the reception area. In the event of sudden illness or accident you should immediately inform any member of staff or the receptionist immediately. In the event of an emergency please call 999 and state the following.
